| How many states have laws against buying video games under age? I know there are some that are waiting to be passed but roughly how many states have laws that say a 10 year old can't buy grand theft auto without a parent. | There are NO such laws. Any such trouble at the store would be due to an intra-industry agreement. Same for movies by the way to here is no law forcing theaters to enforce ratings. Any effort to actually pass such laws runs into first amendment and restraint on interstate trade issues, and that is while people bluster about them in legislature, none are ever passed. |

| Personally, I don't see a need to let my guys play games like Call of Duty at 10 years old. There's plenty of other stuff for them to play, like MarioKart or Lego Harry Potter. If my guys don't like the rules, they are welcome to find other pursuits like reading, taking up a sport, music lessons, etc. The earliest I'd let my guyren play a video game like Call of Duty would be as a freshman in high school. I'm sure I come off as more conservative than average, but I just don't see a need to bring that stuff into my own home via our game system. There is more than enough of that on television and in movies. If my guy wants a game like Call of Duty, we can certainly discuss it, but if I don't feel that my guy is mature enough to handle graphic violence, I'm not going to let him buy it, period. |
